Alita Escobedo

Explore the work of Alita Escobedo, a lighting and spatial designer who has transformed light into a medium for connecting emotions, telling stories, and creating unforgettable experiences.

Growing up in the cross-border region of Tijuana-San Diego, Alita discovered lighting as a powerful tool to translate ideas and emotions.

Her work has been presented on different states inside Mexico and around the globe. Giving her the opportunity to test her skills on small spaces to large auditoriums; such as the National Auditorium (Mexico), Israel (Opera House of Tel-Aviv), Cuba (Grand Theater of Havana and National Theater of Cuba), Spain, Argentina, Costa Rica, United States, Prague, among others.She won first place in The Perfect Light (Japan) contest in May 2018.

Among her most notable projects is L’Aira, a series of artistic interventions that invited audiences to reflect on themes of body, voice, and freedom.

For Alita, being part of World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024 is a global statement that celebrates the identity of our region and the power of design to build a more equitable and connected future.
