The ‘Temporary Paradise?’ project is a visionary plan for the San Diego and Tijuana region, advocating for sustainability, livability, and equity. Developed over 50 years, it promotes a unified San Diego/Tijuana Region with shared economy, environment, and culture. Led by Dr. Bruce Appleyard, efforts include creating a Declaration of Interdependence and developing a new vision plan for the next 50 years.
A humanity-centered, community-based workshop on March 16th to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of “Temporary Paradise?”, the 2024 World Design Capital, and to chart a new vision for our binational region’s climate, watershed and coastal resiliency. A who’s who of experts, planners, and urban designers will gather to discuss ways to guide future transnational planning and design in the San Diego Tijuana region in the midst of our current global climate crisis. This daylong interactive event is open to anyone with an interest in binational planning, watershed and climate action plans, and coastal and inland resiliency, among other topics. Lunch is provided.
