The San Diego Tijuana International Jazz Festival is the first-ever jazz event uniting artists, audiences, and arts organizations on both sides of the border. Presented free to the public over three days (October 4 and 6 in San Diego, October 5 in Tijuana), the festival focuses on Latin Jazz and our shared binational jazz history, reaching back to a century ago with pioneering African American composer Jelly Roll Morton’s little-known residency in Tijuana, and forward into the future, bringing together student musicians from afterschool band programs in both San Diego and Ensenada.
