Trolley Dances will celebrate cross border collaborations in site-specific dance, focusing on meaningful public performance art and transportation, bringing dance to the people of our region. Each year features new regional dancemakers and dancers. 2024 focuses on collaborations between the cities of San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. Along with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit (MTS), and San Diego Unified School District; new artistic partnerships include Vanguard Culture and World Design Capital 2024. Selected for their artistic excellence, artists include Monica Bill Barnes (NYU); bkSOUL (SD, Black/Korean Hip Hop) collaborating with TranscenDANCE Youth Arts Project (SD); Doris Bittar (Arabic-Mexican communities of SD); ConnectArte (TJ); Pendulo Cero Danza Contemporanea (TJ); and former artistic director Jean Isaacs, original founder and designer of Trolley Dances.
