San Diego-based artist Melissa Walter translates complex scientific concepts into visual experiences at the ICA San Diego / North Campus. Through a site-specific installation of 100 drawings along with an experimental animation, Walter gives visual form to the history and evolution of DNA identification technology. Her grids and flow charts pack a wealth of information into highly detailed yet restrained compositions that illuminate the profound effects this technology can have on increasing equity in the American criminal justice system, asking viewers to question our understanding of data, technology, and social justice in our cross-border region. *All ICA San Diego exhibitions are free for everyone.
