CreativeMornings is an initiative of designer Tina Roth Eisenberg with the goal of connecting the creative community through a monthly talk and breakfast in the morning. Based in Tijuana, we invite local speakers to inspire the creative community in our city. October’s theme is Thread and we invite Mely Avila from M.A Studio with her talk “Braiding Tradition: Contemporary Artisanal Design”. She has a degree in Plastic Arts from the Universidad de las Américas Puebla in Cholula, Mexico. Her work has developed around cultural management, creative education and collaborative projects. For years she practiced photography, illustration and drawing, and spent 6 years at the head of the educational area of the Centro de Cultura Digital, an instance of the Ministry of Culture. His work both personal and collaborative has been exhibited nationally and internationally in exhibitions, books, design fairs and magazines such as The NY Times, Wallpaper, Vogue, Architectural Digest, Gestalten, L’officiel, Elle, among others. 🔎
