About

Arts & Culture

Join us on August 7th, 2024, for a tour highlighting the work of master architect Frank W. Stevenson in Baja California. This tour, conducted by historians in conjunction with the Latinos in Heritage Conservation Conference, Congreso 2024, promises an enriching experience. The Tijuana-Ensenada tour will depart from downtown San Diego to downtown Tijuana, Playas de Tijuana and Ensenada. We will visit two places designed by Stevenson in Tijuana: La Comercial in Second Street and the Foreign Club in Avenida Revolución. We will see the Francis Hotel and the Hotel Caesar’s, where The Caesar Salad was made famous. The tour will visit Playas de Tijuana and stop at the border fence next to view the prominent landmark, the Bullring by the Sea, and view the Lighthouse. The tour will take us to the 100 year old Rosarito Beach Hotel and Casa Chabert. Then, to Ensenada and the Spanish Revival Hotel Riviera where the margarita drink was invented. Our last stop will be the Spanish Revival Abelardo Rodriguez house designed by Stevenson in 1930.The tour will return to San Diego between 6 PM and 7 PM, depending on border traffic. To register, visit www.latinoheritage.us/congreso2024Thank you to our supporters at Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center, la Secretaría de Cultura Instituto de Cultura de Baja California, ICOMOS México, World Design Capital and Tijuana City Tours.
