Are you ready to take part in the World Design Festival powered by Tijuana Design Week? If you’re as excited as we are, then you’ll want to make sure you have all the details on how to get to Tijuana for this incredible event. We’ve got you covered with a comprehensive transportation guide.

 

Shuttle Service

In partnership with MexiCoach, there will be two shuttle options:

  1. Limited Shuttle service from San Diego to CECUT (Tijuana, MX) is available Friday (5/3), Saturday (5/4), and Sunday (5/5).  Only 45 spots per day are available, pick up time at 9 AM in SD and return to SD at 6 PM. Must have a valid passport.
  2. Shuttle Service on the Tijuana side of the border to CECUT. This is a great option for attendees looking to park or take the trolley by the border and cross on foot. Shuttles will run every 2 hours starting at 8:30 AM til 5 PM.
    1. Shuttle Times from the Tijuana side of the border: 8:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM
    2. Shuttle Times from CECUT back to TJ border: 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM

The pick-up point will be across the Tijuana Border at the Baja California Railroad Company Parking Lot (click here to learn how to walk there from Ped East) and Drop-off at CECUT.

 

Driving

For those who love the freedom of the open road, driving to Tijuana is a fantastic option. From certain parts of San Diego, it’s just a quick 30-minute drive. You have two main exits to choose from: Otay Mesa exit and El Chaparral San Ysidro exit. Whichever route you take, you’re in for a scenic journey with easy access to the World Design Festival powered Tijuana Design Week.

Trolley & Pedestrian Bridge:

If you prefer to sit back and relax while someone else does the driving, then the trolley and pedestrian bridge combo might be your best bet. Take the blue line all the way to San Ysidro station and cross by foot to Mexico. Although it takes a bit longer, approximately 50 minutes in total, it’s a stress-free option. Plus, you get to enjoy the sights along the way, all for the cost of $2.50.

 

Bus

For budget-conscious travelers who still want to experience the excitement of Tijuana Design Week, hopping on the bus is a great choice. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, offering an affordable and convenient way to reach Tijuana for the festival. And with a fare of around $2.50, it’s easy on the wallet too.

  • Phoenix, Arizona: Those departing from Phoenix, Arizona, will enjoy a relatively quick flight, with a duration of approximately 1 hour and 11 minutes to San Diego.
  • Las Vegas, Nevada: Travelers from Las Vegas, Nevada, can anticipate a flight duration of about 1 hour and 20 minutes to San Diego.
